Minor Requirements for Chemistry & Biomolecular Engineering

In order to declare the Chemistry or Biomolecular Engineering minor, please complete this form.

CHEM 102, 103, 104, & 105 or *Labs must be completed to satisfy the minor; students cannot have labs waived or take a proficiency exam to satisfy the lab requirement. |

Two 3-4 credit hour Advanced Chemistry courses (300 & 400 level Chemistry courses, NOT INCLUDING research or independent study) The two courses should be from different subdisciplines of Chemistry. For example, inorganic chemistry and organic chemistry. See below for courses commonly taken to complete the minor (a) and for a list of courses that DO NOT count for the minor (b) |

Some of the courses above are restricted to Chemistry majors through the priority registration period.
NOTE: In line with the Office of the Provost’s guidelines, declared minors are not granted priority registration for required courses. Furthermore, SCS advisors cannot provide access to courses that are closed or restricted to majors only.
Courses that DO NOT count toward the minor: CHEM 315, CHEM 317, CHEM 397, CHEM 420, CHEM 437, CHEM 445, CHEM 447, CHEM 494, CHEM 496, CHEM 497, and CHEM 499; MCB 354, MCB 450, or BIOC 455.
Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering majors are not eligible for the Chemistry minor.
